General Description
Location: King's Lynn is located 2nm SSE of the entrance to Lynn Cut, which is the artificially straightened mouth of the River Great Ouse, in the S corner of the Wash on the English E coast. General overview: The port area covers 36ha and consists of 2 interconnected docks and riverside quay providing more than 1,500m of quay accommodation. The port handles agribulks, forest products, steel and breakbulk cargoes. The conservancy function and harbour management is the responsibility of The King's Lynn Conservancy Board. The Alexandra, Bentinck Docks and Riverside Quay are owned and operated by Associated British Ports (ABP). Traffic figures: Approx 400 vessels and 777,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Enclosed docks: LOA 119m, beam 13.8m, draught 5.5m HWS, 4,000DWT. Riverside Quay: LOA 140m, beam 20m, draught 5.8m HWS, 5,500DWT.
