General Description
Location: New Ross is located on the River Barrow, 9nm above its confluence with the River Suir and 18nm from the sea in the SE corner of Ireland, 47km WNW of Carnsore Point in a direct line. General overview: It is a small commercial tidal port with facilities for containers, Ro-Ro, liquid and bulk cargoes. Up to 310m of wharves available. The principal exports include agricultural produce, fertilisers, grain, livestock, timber. Imports include acids, cement, coal, fertilisers, petroleum products, oil, salt and animal feed. Traffic figures: Approx 1,000,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
