General Description
Location: Mostyn is located on the W side of River Dee estuary, 2.75nm SE of Point of Ayr. General overview: Mostyn is a privately owned tidal port covering an area of 28ha with 310m of riverside berths, providing lock free access to all cargo handling areas, a Ro-Ro Terminal and a purpose built berth for unloading aircraft wings. Additionally the port is favourably situated for the transport of offshore wind farm turbines and blades. The port also has its own railway siding linking it directly to the main national rail network. Cargo handled: Steel, timber products, animal feeds, fertilisers, aggregates and project cargoes. Traffic figures: Approx 120 vessels visit the port annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: River Wharf: LOA 120m, beam 20m, draught 6.5m (any tide). Largest vessel handled: "Alina", 6,750DWT.
