General Description
Location: Monopoli is situated on the Adriatic coast, S of Bari.
General overview: The current port is protected by two main docks called Molo Margherita and Diga di Tramontana. Monopoli has facilities for general, bulk and liquid cargoes, much of the latter handled by the international trade. The principal exports are wine, vegetable oils, cement and building materials. Imports include vegetable oils, sand, fertilizers, logs, grain, vegetables, locust beans, timber and glass raw materials.
As cruise port, Monopoli has a small natural harbour and is visited by smaller-sized luxury ships, including sailing ships. The port can receive ships up to 110 m. They're generally tourist ships and there is no more than one docking at the same moment for safety reasons and in order to host at least 80 boats in the basin.
Load line zone: Summer.
Max size: LOA 110m, draught 6.7m, about 6,000DWT.
