General Description
Location: The Port of Mongstad, situated in Vestland county, Norway, spans the border of Alver and Austrheim municipalities, with most of the site located in Alver.
General overview: The Port of Mongstad as Norway's largest refinery and oil terminal, the port is operated by Gassnova, Equinor, Shell, and Sasol.
The port features facilities for receiving crude oil from the North Sea and exporting crude oil and light refined petroleum products. The oil tanker terminal on the oil refinery jetty operates 24/7 and allows tankers to moor and load/unload cargo any time of day, seven days a week.
The port includes four jetties for importing crude oil and exporting various oil products produced by refineries. Notably, the port's special regulations prohibit the discharge of dirty ballast sewage systems containing dirty oil into the sea and require the pumping of such waste into special storage tanks onshore.
