General Description
Location: The Port of Trondheim is located in Trondheim municipality, Trøndelag county, on the banks of the River Nidelva, and is approx. 497km north of Oslo.
General overview: The Port of Trondheim is a key transportation hub connecting southern and northern Norway, as well as Sweden. With regular shipping routes to major ports in Northern and Western Europe, it also serves an increasing number of international cruise ships.
The Trondheim Harbour District encompasses various areas, including Vaeresletta/Ladehammeren, Nyhavna, Brattora, Kanalhavna, Nidelv, Ila, and Trolla/Gulosen. The port is ice-free in winter and rarely affected by fog, and its principal quays are connected to the main railway system.
Exports from the port include fish and fish products, canned food, wood pulp, metals, and chemicals, while imports include produce, fodder, fertilizers, iron, and steel. The port also has tanker facilities, with five berths operated by Statoil A/S, Mobil Oil A/S Norge, A/S Norske Esso, Texaco Oil Norsk A/S, and A/S Norske Shell.
