General Description
Location: Lirquen is located on the SE side of Concepcion Bay. General overview: Principal imports: Fertiliser, sugar, containers and general cargo. Principal exports: Logs, newsprint, woodpulp, lumber, containers and fishmeal. The port is also able to handle all metallic copper shipments from central Chilean mines plus a significant percentage of fruit or cargo exports requiring refrigeration facilities in the port. Lirquen also handles a large amount of cereal imports which are discharged in the central port area. Traffic figures: Approx 2,700,000t of cargo and 278 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Southern Winter Seasonal Zone, Winter Apr 16 to Oct 15, Summer Oct 16 to Apr 15. Max size: LOA 220m, draught 15.4m.
