General Description
Location: Kinsale is situated on the estuary of the Bandon River, approx 11nm SW of Cork harbour entrance and approx 8nm NNE of the Old Head of Kinsale. General overview: The port is a virtually land locked harbour. Both the Inner and Outer Harbours cover approx 5km² and provide good anchorages. The port has two fully serviced marinas with visitors berths and a limited number of swinging moorings available. Imports: Mostly animal feed. Exports: Timber. Traffic figures: Approx 100 vessels and 160,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 90m, 3,000DWT. Draught 5.0m on top of predicted height of tide. Largest vessel handled: "Elizabeth", LOA 96m, 4,200DWT, draught 5.5m (spring tide).
