General Description
Location: Corfu (Kerkira) is located off the coast of Greece, facing the Ionian Sea.
General overview: Corfu port has a deep open anchorage and New and Old Harbours. The Old Harbour is used by small craft and ferries, a number of car and passenger ferry services use the New Harbour which has over 1,000m of berthing space. Tanker berths are located at Gouvia, 6km NW of the main port. Principal imports are stone and sand and exports olive oil. There is a large tourist industry to the Island. Cruise ships dock at Corfu port on the eastern coast, with a cruise ship terminal located on the Neo Limani.The cruise port has a major influence on the island’s economy. The port is often included in Adriatic Sea cruise itineraries and also in itineraries between Italy and Greece.
Traffic figures: Approx 4,100 vessels and 700,000 paseengers visit the port annually.
