Location: Philipsburg is situated in Groot Bay, in the SE corner of the Dutch St Maarten. General overview: Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch part of St Maarten, stands in a well protected bay and consists of one cruise pier with four berths, a tender jetty and a cargo Lo-Lo/Ro-Ro wharf. Cole Bay Tanker Terminal consists of two CBM oil terminals, operated by Shell and Texaco, in Kool Baai approx 2nm W of Groot Bay. Traffic figures: Approx 1,400,000 cruise ship passengers handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Nov 1 to Jul 15, Summer Jul 16 to Oct 31. Max size: Large cruise vessels berthed alongside and at anchorage.
