General Description
Location: Bunbury is situated around the S end of Koombana Bay in SW Australia, 182km from Perth. General overview: The port is divided into an Inner and Outer Harbour and is sheltered from the Indian Ocean by a natural breakwater, Cape Naturaliste. Imports: Petroleum coke, methanol, caustic soda, potash, mineral sands, vegetable oil, chemical fertiliser and general cargo. Exports: Alumina, woodchips, mineral sands, silica sand, spodumene, timber, kaolin clay, rutile and general cargo. Traffic figures: Approx 340 vessels and 13,659,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Inner Harbour: Bulk Carrier - 32,340GT, 225m in length. Official Limit: Outer Harbour: Maximum Length 220m, Maximum Draught 8.8m, subject to slight increase at Harbour Master's discretion. Inner Harbour: Maximum Length 244m, Maximum Draught 11.6m.
