Location: Abbot Point, Australia's most N'ly deepwater coal port, is situated on the NE coast of Australia. General overview: Abbot Point is currently a coal port, servicing the coal mines of Newlands and Collinsville. The port comprises of a rail supplied loading facility, coal handling and stockpile areas, and a trestle jetty with two berths, each connected to a shiploader. The government port is due to be sold to Adani, the owners of Mundra Port, India. Traffic figures: Approx 170 vessels and 14,500,000t of coal handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: LOA 300m, beam 50m, draught 17.6m, 200,000DWT, berthing displacement 110,000t, airdraught 27.5m, above LW. Any vessels over this size may be able to enter the harbour at the discretion and determination of the Regional Harbour Master upon written application Largest vessels handled: "Pin Oak", LOA 302m; "Tiafung", beam 53m; "Mineral Diamond", 194,744DWT.
