General Description
Location: Weymouth harbour is situated to the N of Portland Bill at the mouth of the River Wey. General overview: Weymouth is one of the oldest ferry ports located on the S coast with open access to the English Channel, without tidal restriction, 24 hours a day. The port possesses 3 quays (2 for general cargo and 1 for Ro-Ro, the total length of berthage is approx 450m). Imports: Animal feed stuffs and grains, fertilisers packaged/unitised, timber pre-slung/palletised or other general cargo. Exports: Bulk: Aggregates (all grades) and cereals. Traffic figures: Approx 20,500t of cargo, 4,900 vehicles and 207,000 passengers are handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 130m, draught 5.2m.
