General Description
Location: Vejle is situated on the E coast of Jutland at the end of Vejle Fjord, approx 105nm W of Copenhagen. General overview: The harbour consists of a single long basin with quays on either side and a yacht harbour situated on the N side at its E end. The entrance faces ESE and is 67m in width between the N breakwater and the E end of the S quay. Imports include: Steel, coal, chemicals, fertilisers, grain, food stuffs and gravel. Exports include: Grain, timber, steel and scrap. Traffic figures: Approx 700 vessels and 800,000-900,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 165m, beam 20m, draught 6.8m, airdraught 40m. Largest vessel handled: Tanker 18,000DWT, with part cargo and a bulker of 17,200DWT, with part cargo.
