General Description
Location: Toyama is situated on the bank of Jinzu River, on the Sea of Japan coast of Honshu in Toyama Prefecture. General overview: Toyama is an open port, consisting of a basin 0.8nm in length from which two narrow canals lead off. One of the canals is used as a timber basin and the other as a mooring area for pleasure craft. The port is mainly engaged in the importation of timber, petroleum products and containers. There is a SBM approx 1.5nm offshore for the discharge of crude oil. Traffic figures: Approx 59 vessels, 8,600,000t cargo, 60,000TEU handled annually. Load line zone: Summer.
