General Description
Location: Stralsund is located at the Southern coast of the Stralsund, a sound of the Baltic Sea separating the island of Rugia from the mainland.
General overview: The port is kept open throughout the year with the use of an icebreaker. Stralsund is divided into 4 parts: Frankenhafen, Südhafen (South port), Nordhafen (North port) and Stadthafen (City port (marina)). Stralsund is separated by a bascule bridge (Zeigelgrabenbruecke) between the N and S ports. The port is able to handle bulk (mostly coal) and general cargoes.
The port provides good protection from the north wind through the 450-meter-long breakwater. Another breakwater prevents expansion and prevents wind from the west.
Citymarina Pier provides berths at the dock (east) or directly on the pontoon on the south side of the dock at a water depth of 1.3 to 3.5 meters.
Stralsund Yacht Club eV consists of the pier which is the largest Stralsund pier in the country, located in the passage of the Dönholm brick tomb bridge in the southeast of the island. The berth is mainly occupied by local fishing boats.
Traffic figures: Approx 1,000,000t of cargo are handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
