General Description
Location: Paroikia is situated on the SE side of Paroikias (Paros) Island in the southern Aegean.
General overview: The port of Paroikia, also known as Paros, has an anchorage for small vessels and a ferry pier, handling a large amount of passengers. Ferries to Paros are normally available throughout the year but there are fewer sailings in the winter. Parikía harbour is a major hub for Aegean islands ferries and catamarans, with several sailings each day for Piraeus, the port of Athens, Heraklion, the capital of Crete, and other islands such as Naxos, Ios, Mykonos, and Santorini.
Imports include foodstuffs and industrial products. Exports are fish, marble, wine, agricultural and animal products. No cargo handling equipment is avaliable. Loading and discharge of the cargo is done manually.
