Location: The port of Thunder Bay is situated at the Canadian head of the Great Lakes/St Lawrence Seaway System, 3,200km inland from the Atlantic Ocean. General overview: The port extends along 45km of shoreline and has facilities for handling all types of cargo, including grain, coal, potash, forest products, general cargoes, heavy lifts, bagged grains project cargoes and liquid bulk. Traffic figures: Approx 375 vessels and 7,200,000t of cargo are handled annually. Max size: LOA 222m. Ro-Ro berths: LOA 117m; max beam 21.33m, draught 8.2m.
