General Description
Location: The port of Manokwari is situated on the N coast of Irian Jaya in eastern Indonesia. General overview: Manokwari is a natural harbour occupying both sides of an inlet at Teluk Dore. The port, which is commercially important, is open to foreign trade and main exports include; forest products, cocoa and tobacco. Imports include general cargo, foodstuffs and machinery items. There is also a busy ferry service for local passengers. Traffic figures: The port handles approx 318,000t of cargo, 16,400TEU, and 680 vessels annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Government Wharf: LOA 150m, draught 9.6m and 7,000DWT. Larger vessels can be accommodated at the anchorage. Oil Terminal: LOA 130m, draught 8.0m and 6,500DWT.
