General Description
Location: Jayapura (formerly Sukanapura and Hollandia Haven) is an important seaport situated on the N coast of Irian Jaya, Papua, close to the border with Papua New Guinea. General overview: It is a commercial port opened for foreign trade and serves as the main harbour of Irian Jaya. It handles forest product and crude palm oil as the main exports, the main imports being machinery and foodstuffs. An oil terminal lies in Teluk Imbi, 1.5nm NE of the city. Traffic figures: Approx 1,000,000t of cargo, 54,500TEU and 630 vessel use the port annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Jayapura Port: LOA 150m, draught 12.0m, 30,000DWT. Oil Terminal: LOA 135, draught 10.3m, 14,000DWT.
