Location: Majuro is located to the E of the Marshall Islands, towards the southern end of the Ratak Chain. General overview: The atoll consists of more than 50 coral islands lying on a reef enclosing a large lagoon. Most of the islands are approx 1.5m in height, except for the W end of Majuro Island extending 14nm along the SW side of the atoll, which is approx 5m in height. Dalap, Uliga, and Djarrit Islands are joined by a causeway lying on the E end of the atoll, the principal settlement, and most of the facilities are centred on these 3 islands. Majuro commercial dock, in the SE corner of the Atoll, is equipped to handle container, general cargo, tankers, and cruise vessels. Traffic figures: The port handles approx 72 cargo vessels annually.
