General Description
Location: Huludao is situated on the Bohai Rim, in NE China's Liaoning Province. General overview: Huludao, one of China's main military ports, is being opened to commercial shipping, with construction currently taking place. It is reported that there are two bulk cargo berths of 70,000DWT each and one petrochemical berth of 10,000DWT. A 333ha logistics park is being established in the port zone, comprising various specialised sections for oil tankers, dry and bulk cargoes, storage, distribution, packaging and processing, container freight, and bus services. The port is expected to have a cargo throughput of 10,000,000t which is expected to reach 50,000,000t at the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10). With road, rail and oil pipe networks, the ice-free port will provide access to NE China and to the surrounding regions, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei Province and 5 eastern leagues in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. General cargo, Grain, Zinc ingots, Cement and Chemicals are handled. Traffic figures: Approx 7,910,000t of cargo and 270,000 passengers are handled annually.
