Location: Come By Chance is a deep water port situated near Whiffen Head, on the coast of Newfoundland, 138km from the port of St John's. General overview: A public harbour, with facilities for deep draught tankers, developed to service an oil refinery and a transhipment terminal. Crude oil is delivered by shuttle tanker from the Grand Banks production fields of Hibernia and Terra Nova for transhipment (NTL) and imported crude is refined, with petroleum products exported, administered by North Atlantic Refinery Limited. Traffic figures: Approx 7,430,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Refinery: West berth: Tankers of up to LOA 463m, draught 27.43m, 320,000DWT. East berth: Tankers of up to max draught 14.63m, 60,000DWT.
