Location: Port Walcott is situated on the NW coast of Australia, between Dampier and Port Hedland. General overview: The port exports iron ore and imports petroleum products. Most of the port area, particularly the ore berths, is operated by Robe River Iron Associates (RRIA). Traffic figures: Approx 340 vessels and 55,000,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: South Indian Ocean Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical May 1 to Nov 30, Summer Dec 1 to Apr 30. Max size: LOA 335m, beam 60m, draught 19.5m, 340,000DWT. Largest vessel handled: "Bergeland", 322,941DWT.
