Location: The Port of Buchanan is situated on Waterhouse Bay, part of the Atlantic Ocean.
General overview: The Port of Buchanan (previously known as Grand Bassa) is a significant ore export terminal. The port consists of 2 breakwaters, the main and the secondary.
The commercial berth is situated on the secondary breakwater, with an adjacent waiting berth for ore carriers. The ore berth is located on the shore, protected by the main breakwater.
The port also has a tanker berth, operated by Chevron, Equatorial Palm Oil & African Petroleum.
