General Description
Location: Situated on the left bank (from seaward) of the Parana de Las Palmas at Km. 132, 15 miles upstream from Zarate, and 80 miles by river from Buenos Aires, via Mitre Channel.
General overview: Atucha is a small port facility, specifically designed to handle incoming materials for a Nuclear Energy Plant. The port has the only quay (length: 33m; width: 20m; with 1 bow and 3 stern mooring dolphins) which was built especially for the discharge of heavy material for the atomic energy plant. Depth alongside is about 13,40 m(44ft). There is a 300 ton heavy lift crane on the concrete platform. The plant is now in full operation.
