Location: Langøya is an island located in the Oslofjord, south of the capital, accessible by a short boat ride from Holmestrand. General Overview: Langøya island is mainly composed of limestone, making it exceptional in the crystalline rocks of Norway. The limestone was quarried for centuries, resulting in a large quarry covering almost the whole island. Currently, Langøya is utilized as a landfill for hazardous inorganic waste, primarily industrial acid, fly ash, and other inorganic hazardous waste from the Norwegian industry.
