General Description
Location: The port of Truro lies at the head of the Fal Estuary on the SW coast of England. General overview: A sheltered inland tidal harbour, dry at LW, the port is located 9nm from the mouth of the River Fal and Falmouth. Truro port covers an area of 1,000ha and is involved with the sea transportation of bulk commodities. Main cargoes handled are: sand, cement, scrap metal, building material, animal feed, grain and fertilisers. Traffic figures: Approx 50,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 85m, draught 4.4m, 2,000DWT. Largest cargo vessel handled: "Lass Saturn", 1,830DWT mini bulker, draught 4.0m.
