Location: Sarnia is located at the head of the St Clair River at its junction with Lake Huron.
General overview: Sarnia is a major petro-chemical centre, known as the "chemical valley' of Canada. The port provides seagoing access for supplies and project cargo and is a year-round berthing and repair facility for Great Lakes shipping. The navigation season is from mid March to the end of December.
Traffic figures: Approx 80 vessels visit the Government Wharves annually.
