Location: Puerto Madryn is situated at W coast of Golfo Nuevo
General overview: Puerto Madryn is a deep water natural harbour. The port constists of 2 piers:
- Comandante Luis Piedra Buena
- Almirante Storni
Berths:
- Berth No.1 (LOA: 220m)
Berth is mainly used by Aluar S.A. for the discharging of bulk
cargo (300 t/h). Also used for fruits and general cargoes.
- Berth No.2 (LOA: 175m) (For General Cargo)
- Berth No.3 (LOA: 190m) (For Loading Containers / Unloading General Cargo)
- Berth No.4 (Fishing boats exclusively)
- Berth No.5 (Length: 156m)
- Berth No.6 (Length: 142m)
For Berth No.1, vessels carrying alumina/pitch for Aluar have utmost priority (can be used by other vessels).
Vessels carrying container or cruise ships have priority for Berths 2 & 3 as well as 1, if not needed by Aluar.
Cargoes:
The main trade the port conducts is import of alumina and exports of aluminum ingots, wool, flagstone and frozen fish.
