General Description
Location: Ma-Kung harbour (also named Magong harbour) is located in the SE part of Peng Hu island, in a group of islands approx 70nm off the W Taiwan coast.
General overview: It is a natural U-shaped harbor offering shelter from the Taiwan Strait's open waters. The harbor has naval, commercial and fishing facilities, with regular passenger services to An-Ping. The port has a ferry connection with Kaohsiung. There are a total of 956 meters in nine wharves in the Port of Kaohsiung's Magong Port District with alongside depths from 2.5 to 8 meters (8.2 to 26.2 feet). There are two open storage yards covering a total of ten thousand square meters (2.5 acres).
Magong Pier District is a natural harbor with good shelter coverage, stable tides and is suitable for cruise ship berthing. At present, Magong Pier District Pier No. 1 and 8 can accommodate 50 thousand tons cruise ships and those over 50 thousand tons can be anchored at the port’s anchor zone with passengers shuttled to the shore.
