Location: Leer is situated on the N bank of Die Leda, accessed by an entrance lock and located close to the River Ems, approx 75km from the estuary.
General overview: Leer deals mainly with transhipment of dry bulk and general cargo between sea going and inland waterway vessels. As cruise port, Leer is included in the regular schedules of two of Europe's largest river cruise companies - Phoenix Reisen and Nicko Cruises (brand of Mystic Cruises).
Traffic figures: Approx 660 vessels and 1,000,000t of cargo handled annually.
