Location: Kaskinen is situated on the W coast of Finland and lies between the islands of Kaskinen and Esko, in the Gulf of Bothnia. General overview: The port serves the Kaskinen wood pulp plant which is one of the largest in Scandinavia. There are 3 different port areas: - Deep Port - Quay 1 to 5 (Length 500m // Depth 10.2m) - Dolphin Berth 6 (Length 160m) - Ro/Ro berth (Depth 8.8m) - Quay 7 (Length 165m // Depth 10.2m) - Ro/Ro - Chemical Quay - Quay 8 (Length 125m // Depth 10.2m) (Max.Vessel LOA 120m) - Outer Port - Outer Quay (Length 100m // Depth 8m) Warehousing: - Chemical & Oil (49,000 m3) - Bulk (10,000 m2) - General Cargo (38,000 m2) Handling Gears: - 2 Mobile Cranes (110t) - Mobile Crane (100t) - Mobile Crane (90t) - Mobile (65t) - 20 Forklifts (3t to 16t) Traffic figures: Approx. pulp 250,000t, sawn timber 500,000t, dry bulk 500,000, total export 750,000t, total import 500,000t, handled annually. Alternatively known as Kasko. Under reasonable conditions, the port can be kept open using icebreakers. However, from Dec-Apr vessel are required to be ICE class for navigating in ice. Load line zone: - Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length - Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, - Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31 - Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 185m, draught 9.0m.
