Location: Lulea is situated at the N end of the Gulf of Bothnia. General overview: The port is open for shipping all year due to the use of ice-breakers. The port is made up of four harbour facilities: Victoria Handling of bulk and general cargo. Loading steel and coke and discharging 1,200,000t of Harbour: coal annually plus raw materials for the steel plant. Uddebo Receiving and loading of oil products. Discharging 500,000t of oil products annually. Harbour: Ore Harbour: LKAB's receiving, storage and shipping facilities. Loading 4,200,000t of iron ore annually. Cement Importation of 50,000t of cement annually. Harbour Traffic figures: Approx 7,029,500t of cargo and 530 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Max draught 11.1m. Largest vessel handled: "Nessie", bulk carrier, LOA 265m, beam 38.5m, draught 11.0m, 110,342DWT.
