Location: Hanko, the southern most port of Finland, is situated on the SW coast, approx. 150km SW of Helsinki.
General overview: The Port of Hanko is a considered a crucial port as it gives immediate access to the Baltic Sea. The port consists of 3 harbours: (Western, Outer, Koverhar) handling both dry cargo & Ro/Ros. The port remains open throughout the year with the assistance of State icebreakers.

Handles project cargoes, steel products, forest exports and Ro/Ros.

Mostly handles vehicles, heavy lifts and steel cargoes.

Handles bulk cargoes.

Cargoes:
- Exports include plywood, paper, woodpulp, rayon fibre, butter, tar and cellulose,
- Imports are new motor vehicles, cotton, coal, iron and gypsum.
Traffic figures: Approx. 1,600 vessels, 3,500,000t of cargo and 170,900 passengers handled annually.
Load line zone:
- Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length
- Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length
- Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31,
-Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
