General Description
Location: Port Saguenay is situated on the Saguenay River, off the St Lawence River. General overview: The Town of Saguenay (formerly Chicoutimi) no longer has any commercial quays. The main port area is situated at Grande-Anse Marine Terminal, located 54nm from the junction of the Saguenay River with the St Lawrence.
There is year round navigation. The public port serves the industries of the area which are mainly general cargo, agriculture, lumber, pulp, paper and de-icing salt. There is also the Albert-Maltais Petroleum Terminal, close E of the town. For Port Alfred Bauxite berths see separate entry.
