General Description
Location: On the San Jorge Gulf, Chubut Province, 800 km. SSW of Buenos Aires. The port is located within the boundaries of the city of Comodoro Rivadavia
General overview: The port acts as an outlet for oil from the adjacent oil fields. Facilities are made up of berths and SPM's owned by the Government and private companies.
Berths:
-The port has two wharves; Muelle Ultramar (ocean-going berth), 216 m. long and 10.0 m. depth, with rubber fender, and Muelle Pesquero, 108 m. long and 5.0 m. depth.
-General Mosconi Oil Berth: Operator: REPSOL-YPF.
Location: North side of Comodoro Rivadavia harbour.
Facilities: CBM. Vessels berth using two anchors and to four stern mooring buoys in depth of approximately 6.4 m. The berth is used only by REPSOL-YPF vessels bringing gas oil and refined products from Puerto Rosales and Dock Sud, Buenos Aires, for the local market. Discharge operations are via an underwater hose connected to a pipeline, at a rate of about 120 – 250 cu.m./hr
Traffic figures: Approx 36 vessels and 31,106t handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Dry vessels, length 150m, draught 4.57m. Max draught at Caleta Cordova and Caleta Olivia 18.0m.
