General Description
Location: Brownsville is the southernmost port in Texas and is situated 15nm from the open sea at the WSW end of Brownsville Ship Channel.
General overview: The port comprises a large man-made basin, 1,067m x 365m. The port handles a wide range of cargoes including dry and liquid bulks, grain and general cargoes. Traffic figures: Approx 4,600,000t of cargo handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Length 267m, beam 41m, draught 10.7m in turning basin and 12.8m from Oil Dock No 2 to sea. Note: Max arrival draught 10.9m but, because of shoaling, up to date information should be sought from the port.
