General Description
Location: Barrow Island is approx 44nm off the coast of Western Australia. General overview: The Marine Terminal is located on the eastern side of Barrow Island with the CBM 9.8km offshore at approx 20°48.57'S 115°33.09'E. The terminal is for the export of Barrow Island Crude oil. The construction of Gorgon is underway, expected to be the world's largest LNG plant, on Barrow Island, to produce LNG for the Australian domestic and Asia Pacific export markets. Leighton Engineering has been awarded the Gorgon LNG Jetty construction contract. Load line zone: South Indian Ocean Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical May 1 to Nov 30, Summer Dec 1 to Apr 30. Max size: A tanker will be accepted for loading at the terminal provided it conforms to minimum requirements. Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron) may, at its discretion, refuse to moor or load any tanker, which does not conform to the requirements or is deficient in any manner whatsoever. The terminal is restricted to tankers which have: 1. A loaded displacement of up to 105,000t; 2. A max beam of 47m; 3. A max slab side area of 4,838m² being the product of the LOA and moulded depth. Tankers with a slab side area in excess of 4,838m² may be accepted for berthing or loading, provided that the tanker has been the subject of computer mooring analysis by Chevron Petroleum Technology Company.
