General Description
Location: Barber's Point Harbor (also known as Kalaeloa) is located near the SW tip of the island of Oahu, 20km W of Honolulu. General overview: It is Oahu's second deep draught harbour. The port handles automobiles, general cargo, petroleum products and bulk shipments such as grain, sand, coal and cement. The Harbors Division has expanded the main basin to the NE by excavating a rectangular section measuring 182m wide by 335m long and 11.5m deep. The harbour also includes an area called Barge Basin located near the entrance channel. Just S of the harbour, oil companies operate oil refineries, tanker berths and maintain storage tanks, see separate entries. Traffic figures: Approx 3,000,000t of cargo handled annually.
