General Description
Location: Yali Island is situated in the SW Aegean, 5 n.m. S of Kos.
General overview: At Yali Island, Lava Mining & Quarrying Co. (a member of the company LAFARGE) runs one of the biggest pumice stone extraction quarries worldwide. The vessels are moored alongside a cement pillar and made fastened on floating mooring buoys. One shiploader with rotating boom conveyor is used for the loading operations. Yali is a single bulk berth facility.
Traffic figures: Aprrox 50 ships for international trade and 250 ships for the domestic market visit the port annually.
