Location: Tocopilla is situated midway between Iquique and Antofagasta, in a bay 3nm wide between Point Algodonales to the S and Point Ana to the N. General overview: Tocopilla is an important port in Chile in terms of imports and exports. Principal commodities are nitrate, fishmeal, sulphuric acid and copper cathode exports and bulk coal and oil imports. Traffic figures: Approx 150 vessels visit the port annually. Over 2,000,000t of cargo is handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Maximum draught 13.5m, 80,000DWT.
