General Description
Location: The Port of Sauda, situated in Sauda municipality in Rogaland county, is located at the head of Saude Fjord, approx. 180km NE of Stavanger.
General overview: The Port of Sauda has public and private quays with bulk, container, Ro-Ro, and passenger facilities available. Pilotage is compulsory, and the port is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Although the smelting works owners guarantee a depth of 9.1m alongside their quays, vessels of deeper draught (e.g. 10.2m) have berthed with no damage as the bottom is sand and mud.
The port's main export is ferro-manganese, while its primary imports include manganese, chrome ore, quartz, coal, and coke.
