Location: Port Hardy is located on the NE coast of Vancouver Island on Queen Charlotte Strait, 235km N of Campbell River and 391km N of Nanaimo. The port is situated on the W side of Hardy Bay. General overview: Port Hardy is important in the coastal marine transportation link as the southern terminus of the BC Ferries service to Prince Rupert. There is very little commercial traffic as the port predominantly handles Alaska bound cruise and ferry traffic. Traffic figures: 2 vessels visit annually. Largest vessel handled: "Regal Princess", cruise vessel, 70,000GT. Load line zone: Summer.
