General overview: Port Giles was established to export grain and seeds from the lower section of the peninsula. Recent dredging has increased the grain berth depth to 14.7m LAT. Principal commodities handled: Barley and wheat. Traffic figures: The port handles approx 327,000t of cargo with 8 vessels visiting the port annually. Load line zone: Summer.
