General Description
Location: The port of Porbandar is situated on the Saurastra coastline of Gujarat State, 15NM NW of Navibandar.
General overview: The port has been declared an "All Weather Direct Berthing Port" and consists of an "S" shaped breakwater, 2,650m in length with several berths sheltered on the Eastern side.
Anchorage berths are also used for working cargo. Although during monsoon season its impossible due to rough weather.
Cargoes:
- Imports are low ash coke, fertilizers and scrap.
- Exports are bauxite, cement, sesame seeds, abrasive cotton bales, mineral extracts and reefer cargo.
Handling Equipment:
- 3 MPP Cranes (12.5t to 75t)
Storage:
- Covered (20,080 m2)
Traffic figures: Approx. 2,071,000t of cargo and 100 vessels handled annually.
