Location: Palamos is situated on the Costa Brava, approx 67nm NE of Barcelona. The harbour is one of the deepest in the mediterranean, and allows good manoeuvrability in and out of the port. General overview: The port comprises a marina and two berths for cruise ships, fishing dock and a commercial dock. The commercial dock is located on the southern breakwater and handles dry bulk, forest products, steel Ro-Ro, project and breakbulk cargo. The port, which covers an area of approx 2.3ha, is protected from the S by Dique de Abrigo which extends approx 700m WSW from a position approx 200m N of the extremity of Punta del Molino, at a height of 5.0m above sea level. The centre of the harbour has a depth of 15.0-20.0m. The main exports are tiles, cork and wine, timber being imported. Traffic figures: Approx 37,000t of cargo handled annually.
