Location: The Port of Owase is a situated harbor on the southeast coast of Honshu in Mie Prefecture
General overview: The Port of Owase is situated on the southeast coast of Honshu in Mie Prefecture. This coastal and fishing port is equipped with numerous facilities that cater to the needs of its main exports, timber and fish. Additionally, the port features crude oil reception facilities for the power station at a sea berth, which is capable of accommodating vessels up to 100,000 DWT.
The port infrastructure comprises of breakwaters that offer protection to the public wharves, with a total length of 1013 meters. The majority of the vessels that call at the port are fishing and coastal vessels, with a maximum capacity of less than 1000 DWT. The port has five wharves, each with a depth of 4.5 meters, that are primarily used by fishing vessels of up to 700 DWT. Furthermore, there are two wharves with a depth of 5.5 meters that are equipped to handle coastal vessels of up to 2000 DWT.
For larger vessels, the port features a pile wharf that is 125 meters long and 17.3 meters deep. This wharf is capable of berthing 100,000 DWT ships with reliability. Additionally, there is a marine floating moorable oil tanker with a capacity of 200,000 DWT that is equipped with two oil pipelines of diameters 30.5 cm and 50.8 cm respectively. These pipelines connect the tanker to the onshore oil storage area.
