Location: Ogdensburg is located on the S bank of the St Lawrence Seaway, with Lake Ontario being 95km upstream and Montreal some 200km downstream. General overview: Ogdensburg refers to itself as the first on/first off port of the Seaway due to its proximity to the US Seaway Locks; all vessels going through the system pass within 150m of the port's main terminal. Both Great Lakes and overseas vessels are accommodated. Main cargoes handled are liquid and dry bulks and a wide variety of general cargoes. Traffic figures: Around 150,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Laker vessel, LOA 222.5m, draught 7.9m.
