Location: SW France. Le Verdon lies on the banks of the Gironde estuary.
General overview: Le Verdon is a subport of Bordeaux. It is a major deepwater port (12.5 meters draft) specializing in the transportation of containers and timber. However Le Verdon terminal can also accept large cruise ships. Atlantic Port of Bordeaux is developing a new container terminal (TCSO, South-West Container Terminal) at the Verdon site, gateway to southwestern France, to support the expected growth in container traffic

Facilities: Ro-Ro ramp, 12,000 sq.m. shed, road weighbridge, rail weighbridge, 100,000 sq.m. open storage, 80 reefer plugs, platform for timber and dangerous goods storage yard.
Anchorage: The normal waiting anchorage area is the roadstead of Le Verdon, depth 10.0 – 12.0 m. and sand silt bottom.
Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
